MÅNEDENS CD I JANUAR
Det er 79 år siden, at Shostakovichs 7. symfoni blev opført i St. Petersborg. Dengang hed byen Leningrad.

Symfonien, der handler om kampen mellem ondt og godt, gjorde Shostakovich til folkets komponist. Den 7. Symfoni fra 1941 med tilnavnet Leningrad blev tolket som en hyldest til byens ufatteligt udholdende modstand mod Hitlers invasionsstyrker.

ICMA: International Classical Music Award

FINALISTERNE

De endelige finalisterne er nu udvalgt til ICMA 2020 prisen.
Vi er særligt stolte af vores seneste boks med Beethovens symfonier spillet af Danmarks Underholdningsorkestret og med Adam Fischer i spidsen, som er med i kategorien 'Symphonic Music'.

Nedenfor ses de af vores distribuerede plademærker, som er blandt finalisterne.

Vinderne bliver afsløret 21. januar 2020, og Galakoncerten vil blive afholdt i Sevilla i Teatro Maestranza den 30. april 2020 med Royal Symphony Orchestra of Seville dirigeret af John Axelrod.

NEW ON NAXOS

We welcome the New Year with the first issue of
NEW ON NAXOS for 2020.

This month’s highlights:
• Leif Segerstam’s latest recording in his Beethoven orchestral works series, leading the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra in performances of König Stephan, excerpts from Leonore Prohaska, Opeferlied and the patriotic song Germania. They are joined by a group of outstanding vocal soloists led by soprano Reetta Haavisto and bass Niklas Spångberg, with the Key Ensemble and Chorus Cathedralis Aboensis.

• The latest offering from the Rossini in Wildbad Festival, with a live recording of Gioachino Rossini’s Zelmira, conducted by Gianluigi Gelmetti. Featuring soprano Silvia Dalla Benetta in the title role, this production also includes tenors Joshua Stewart and Mert Süngü, mezzo Marina Comparato, basses Federico Sacchi and Luca Dall’Amico, with the Górecki Chamber Choir, Kraków and Virtuosi Brunensis. NEW ON NAXOS in DECEMBER NAXOS offers a plethora of exciting new releases to cap off another wonderful year. This month’s highlights includes orchestral works from the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries, a collection of youthful keyboard sonatas, and a documentary about a pianist of fierce integrity and communicative power.

This month’s highlights:
• Five, the third collection of Tony Banks’ orchestral works on Naxos, recorded by the Czech National Symphony Orchestra and Choir under Nick Ingman. Previous releases of Banks’ works receive positive reviews: Seven (8.557466) was described as ‘enchanting’ by Audiophile Audition, while Six (8.572986) is ‘full of openhearted melody and glamorous orchestration’ according to American Record Guide.

NEW ON NAXOS


NEW ON NAXOS in NOVEMBER marks the highly-anticipated release of our Beethoven ‘Complete Edition’, a very special 90-disc boxed set to celebrate the composer’s 250th birth anniversary in 2020. Containing over 100 hours of unduplicated music and more than 1,550 tracks, the box features outstanding interpretations by exemplary soloists, chamber ensembles, orchestras and conductors. From Beethoven’s popular works, to a host of fragments, sketches, drafts, arrangements, transcriptions and reconstructions – some of which have never been recorded – this is the most complete collection of Beethoven’s works available in the market.

Accompanying the release is a comprehensive 136-page booklet, two free album downloads of Liszt’s piano transcriptions of the symphonies and songs, an animated ‘unboxing’ video, artist interviews, as well as a dedicated mini-site containing detailed information about the boxed set.

NEW ON NAXOS

Here is the October issue of NEW ON NAXOS. Please take note that starting in October, new Naxos titles will be split into two street dates, either the SECOND or FOURTH FRIDAY of each month. The exact release date for each title has been added below.

This month’s spotlight recording is Boris Giltburg’s new recording of Beethoven’s Piano Concertos, starting a new series of Ludwig van Beethoven’s Piano Concertos, with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra (RLPO) and conductor Vasily Petrenko. The first instalment features the First and Second Piano Concertos, and the Rondo, WoO 6. Giltburg, the RLPO and Petrenko have previously recorded Shostakovich’s two piano concertos on Naxos, which received a perfect 10/10 score from ClassicsToday.com
